Welcome! My name is Luis, and I am a 27-year-old tattoo artist at Sapphire Studios in Naperville, Illinois. I am a proud Mexican-American and long-time resident of the Chicago suburb area.

Here is a little about me and how I got started in the industry:

I have my cousin Cheeto to thank for encouraging me to pursue art seriously. By the time I was in my senior year of high school, I started my apprenticeship at my first studio. This was no easy task, as I had to juggle school, work, and learning my craft. After graduating from high school, I completed my apprenticeship a year later and became a full-time tattoo artist. I can now say I have been happily tattooing for the past 8 years as a professional.

After seeing the good, bad, and the ugly sides of the tattoo industry, I have made it my goal to ensure that.

  • Learning does not end at the apprenticeship. There will always be pride in improving my craft.

  • All clients and all bodies are welcome in my studio. Everyone deserves a safe, clean, respectable environment to get tattooed in.

  • There are no exceptions for hate, racism, or any form of bigotry in my studio.

Outside of tattooing, I really enjoy reading manga and watching anime. Not only is it a source of inspiration for my work, but it has always been an important part of my life. My favorite of all time is One Piece. I also enjoy working out and training in Muay Thai. As a teenager, I loved skateboarding. Though it isn’t an activity I practice anymore, I find myself still connected by creating skateboard art. Some of my other passions are cooking, gardening, and playing video games.

As of January 2026, I am a proud new father to a baby boy with my wife, Rylie. We also have 3 stinky kitties that make up our little family.
