Welcome! My name is Luis, and I am a 27-year-old tattoo artist at Sapphire Studios in Naperville, Illinois. I am a proud Mexican-American and long-time resident of the Chicago suburb area.

Here is a little about me and how I got started in the industry:

My creative side sparked in my sophomore year of high school. I had always doodled the way any teenager would, but my cousin really encouraged me to explore and seek out my potential in art classes. By my junior year, my current art teacher inspired this desire to create within me, launching my goal of becoming a tattoo artist. I was still in high school when I landed my apprenticeship, which was no easy task, as I had to juggle school, work, and learning my craft. A strong work ethic was key as I worked third shift, got little to no sleep, attended school, and then headed to the studio to learn more. Once I graduated from high school, I completed my apprenticeship a year later and became a full-time tattoo artist. I can now say I have been happily tattooing for the past 8 years as a professional. The road wasn’t easy, but the friends, connections, and this path that led my life to where it is now were all worth it.

Outside of tattooing, I have many other hobbies! I really enjoy reading manga and watching anime. Not only is it a source for my work, but it has always been an important part of my life, my favorite being One Piece. I also enjoy working out and training in Muay Thai. Studying bodybuilding and keeping myself healthy. As a teenager, I loved skateboarding and spent countless hours with my friends skating. Though it isn’t an activity I practice anymore, I find myself still connected by creating skateboard art. Some of my other passions are cooking, gardening, and playing video games.

I am not only the proud papa to 3 stinky kitties, but I am a soon-to-be father to my first child with my wife, Rylie. We are expecting to meet our son in January 2026! I am over the moon to start this chapter of our lives.
